Terms of Service

1. What you get

SmartContakt gives you a digital business card at a web address on our domain (for example smartcontakt.com/yourname), a permanent QR code, and a “Save to Contacts” file. Paid cards are a one-time purchase: there is no renewal fee for the card, and you can edit it as often as you like.

• Free plan: a limited card that stays live but cannot be edited after publishing.
• Basic and Pro: unlimited edits for the lifetime of the service.
• Analytics is the only recurring item and is optional; your card keeps working if you don’t renew it.
• Team packs are bought per seat. A company can move a seat from a departed member to a new one at no cost.

2. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your phone or email (or with Google). Keep access to that phone or email; anyone who controls it can sign in. You must be at least 18, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

3. Your content

You own what you put on your card and you are responsible for it being accurate and lawful. You give us permission to host, display and distribute it as needed to run the service. You must not:

• impersonate another person, business, bank or government body;
• use your card for fraud, scams, phishing, malware or illegal goods and services;
• post content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or infringes someone else’s rights.

Handles that match well-known brands need manual approval. We may suspend a card that breaks these rules; a suspended card shows no personal details. Anyone can report a card with the “Report this card” link.

4. Handles

One handle change is free; further changes are paid. A handle you leave keeps redirecting to your card and is never given to anyone else. Short handles of 3–4 characters are a paid premium option.

5. Team accounts

A company that buys seats controls its company template (logo, name, colours, address, website and company socials) on member cards. When a member leaves or is removed, their card stops showing their details and shows the company’s contact or directory instead. Members can see which fields their company controls.

6. Payments and refunds

Prices are in naira and are charged through Paystack or Flutterwave. We only publish paid features after the payment provider confirms the payment. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

7. Printed cards and NFC

Printed and NFC products are made from your card details. We send a proof and scan-test the QR before production. Delivery times are estimates; we will tell you about delays.

8. Link permanence and continuity

Your QR code encodes a permanent short link, not your contact details, so it keeps working when you edit your card or change your handle. We keep cards available for the lifetime of the service, backed by these commitments:

• Our primary domain is registered for the longest term the registry allows, with auto-renewal, under a company-owned account.
• We set aside part of every card sale in a reserve that covers domain and hosting costs.
• Every published card is exported nightly to a static copy that can keep serving if our main systems fail.
• If SmartContakt ever closes, we will give at least 12 months’ notice, let every customer export their card, and keep the static copies of cards online for that notice period.

Customers with a custom subdomain control that link themselves and can point it elsewhere at any time.

9. Availability and liability

We aim for cards to be available 99.9% of the time but cannot promise uninterrupted service. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.

10. Ending your account

You can export your data or delete your account at any time from your dashboard. Deletion completes within 7 days; logging in during that time cancels it. We may close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

11. Changes and law

We will tell you about material changes to these terms by email or SMS before they apply. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Contact us at hello@smartcontakt.com.
